Don Bosco Tech ASEAN 2nd Bi-Annual Meeting 2023

The first day of 2nd Bi-Annual Meeting 2023 was held on September 12, 2023. The meeting was attended by project coordinators from the Don Bosco TVET institutions in Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Timor-Leste, and Myanmar. It was also joined by Mr. Lukas Lambert, Project Manager of Public Cooperation Partners of Don Bosco Mondo. The meeting began with a welcome address from Mr. Mark Carlos Tito Gumapon, Managing Director of Don Bosco Tech ASEAN, who emphasized the importance of collaboration and networking among Don Bosco TVET institutions in the ASEAN region.

Project Coordinators Then Shared Best Practices From Their Respective Countries

The project coordinators then shared best practices from their respective countries. They discussed their successes and challenges in providing quality TVET education to young people in the ASEAN region.One of the challenges that was discussed was the lack of adequate infrastructure and resources in some countries. The participants also discussed the political instability in some countries, which can make it difficult to implement TVET programs.

Positive About the Future of TVET in the Region

Despite the challenges of inadequate infrastructure and resources, as well as political instability, the participants at the 2nd Bi-Annual Meeting of Don Bosco Tech ASEAN were positive about the future of TVET in the region. They agreed to continue to collaborate and share resources in order to provide young people with the skills they need to succeed in the workforce.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining structures and conceptualizing the new phase based on the lessons learned from the previous phases.

Mr. Lambert also highlighted the importance of building networks with government, NGOs, and the private sector. He believes that collaboration is essential for the success of the program and for achieving more meaningful outcomes.

Third Day of the Don Bosco Tech ASEAN Bi-annual Meeting

On the third day of the Don Bosco Tech ASEAN Bi-Annual Meeting, the participants went on a field trip to Don Bosco Technical College Phuoc Loc. The college is located in the Phuoc Loc District of Dong Nai Province, Vietnam. The participants were given a tour of the college’s facilities. The tour included visits to the workshops, classrooms, and laboratories. The participants were able to see the students at work and learn about the different programs that are offered by the college.

In the afternoon, the participants observed classes in different programs. They were able to see the teaching methods that are used and the learning environment that is created for the students.
