TVET is steadily gaining popularity in Africa and it is considered as the driver for economic and sustainable development. Accordingly, Don Bosco Tech Africa came up with this theme to discuss on how TVET can be transformed in Africa in order to achieve sustainable development and offer young people quality life. It is important to note that transformation will not be achieved by only acknowledging the importance of TVET but it requires strategic interventions, investment and networking and partnering with relevant stakeholders.

The meeting was officially opened by Eng. Enock Kayani the Head of Curriculum Validation and Custody, from The National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) whereby he noted that there has been a great collaboration between the government of Tanzania and Don Bosco. However, he emphasized that there are a lot of opportunities and Don Bosco should grab them to help in the growth of Don Bosco TVET centers.

In his address to the participants Fr. Alphose Owoudou, the Regional Councillor Africa-Madagascar reminded the participants that this is an opportunity for all to learn strategies that can make TVET centers effective and sustainable. It is a time to learn about effective collaboration between Don Bosco and the Government in Tanzania, share best practices that will lead us to make positive changes in TVET in Africa.

“It is a time to build networks and make them efficient for the benefit of young people. This way our goal for giving young people quality of life will be achieved” said Fr. George Tharaniyil Director Don Bosco Tech Africa.
