Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) comprises education, training and skills development relating to a wide range of occupational fields, production services and livelihoods.

TVET empowers individuals, organisations, enterprises, and communities and fosters employment, decent work and lifelong learning thereby promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth and competitiveness, social equity and environmental sustainability.

In a tradition started by St. John Bosco, the poor and out of school youth are the centrepiece in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions of his Salesians. The Don Bosco TVET institutions in various ASEAN countries where the Salesians are present endeavor to cater to the skills training and holistic development of these poor youth by providing quality technical education, forming them to be productive yet ethical citizens, who are highly qualified, globally competitive, and gainfully employed. In this manner, the various Don Bosco TVET institutions contribute to the total well-being of the young, and help uplift the lives of the poor.

Further sustainable growth of these works could be ensured through a networking of the Salesians of Don Bosco in the ASEAN region. Each country representative of Don Bosco TVET institutions initially form the “DON BOSCO TECH ASEAN” which aims at increasing the impact of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) on poverty reduction and qualification of marginalized youth in the ASEAN region.
